1989 Dodge Dakota with a complaint of no blower operation. I have had lots of experience with these and went straight to the problem. Luckily this year model has the blower resistor in a convenient location. Sometimes they are inside the dash or under the washer reservoir at the cowl area on various Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth products.
After unplugging the harness connector and removing the two screws, I could remove and examine the resistor coils for damage.
The heat and subsequent rust damage are clearly visible in the pictures.
Installed the new resistor and I did reconnected the harness even though the picture shows it still disconnected. Checked blower operation and all speeds now work.
As a side note it does not hurt to check to make sure rain water will drain out of the area and make sure there are no leaves or other debris restricting air flow through the evaporator or heater core.

This was a great resource. I have a repair manual and could not find this information anywhere in it. After checking the fuse and fusable link I turned to the internet. My 94 Dakota club cab is exactly the same as the illustrations. The inner link is broken at the solder point. I’m hoping replacing this will solve the issue. If not the blower is next.
This article was very helpful in locating the resistors on my ’94 Dakota. The resistors looked exactly like the photos. Unfortunately that did not clear up the inoperative blower motor problem. Grounding issue? Where should I look? Thanks.
you are awesome thank you this helped alot.
Thanks … this was exactly the case with my 93 Dakota. Pictures are also identical. Main wire was burnt off so i moved it over to next spot on board and crimped with vise grips for it to stay there to get by til I oreded a new one and installed.
Used this example for 93 model Dakota located in same spot at firewall. Main wire was burnt off so I moved it over to next spot til I got a new one as seen in picture.
