How to fix driver Blowing hot after recals don’t seem to work

So Sparky on my 07 Burb Z71 with Auto Climate Control, it is blowing liquid magma temp hot air out driver side but cool out Passenger. I tried your provided recal process as well as almost every other “Alt” version without a Tech2 minus the door open/close method. I have replaced 3 of 4 actuators (drivers, behind glove box, & bottom middle right above the drivetrain floor “bump”). Only one I haven’t replaced is the top middle behind the center vents but I don’t think it’s an actuator any longer as it seems the buzzing is gone now that originally led me to replace the actuators. I haven’t noticed any dimming of the Climate Control Module but outside of replacing that I’m drawing a blank as to how to get it calibrated without having take it to a dealership cus I prefer to use my own hands lol. Any advice or guidance will be welcomed

Can you provide the part number and locations for each actuator part number that you have replaced?

Can you describe the buzzing noise and which actuator seemed to correct that condition?

Was the system working fine before replacing the actuators other than the buzzing?

Can you provide the part number and locations for each actuator part number that you have replaced? I’ve attached a screenshot for the 4 I bought from Rock Auto

Can you describe the buzzing noise and which actuator seemed to correct that condition? The buzzing noise was for the rear HVAC climate control module I replaced. After that I started hearing a ticking in the passenger foot well like area. After I started with the lower passenger side actuator, but ticking was still there, so I moved on to replace the lower middle floorboard bump level one & still ticking remained so finally I replaced the drivers side and that’s when the ticking stopped.

Was the system working fine before replacing the actuators other than the buzzing? – It appeared as fine but it was ticking in the passenger footwellish area constantly. No the system wasn’t working fine because I opened a ticket in Feb 2020 & you suggested the blower motor which resolved the issue but then this issue started.

From your description of the sequence of repairs  I am guessing that the replacement actuators are either the wrong parts or poor quality. I have always used genuine ACDelco parts.  The mode actuator is part number 15-73952 and the other three are part number 15-72971. The image you attached only included one part number and it was SK 604112. I looked it up on RA. It is supposed to be the mode actuator  and it should have been mounted above the gas pedal area on the driver ‘s side of the truck.

Please provide the part numbers used and the locations where you installed each one so I can make sure they are correct. The other three are the driver’s temperature door actuator located under the passenger side of the dash just above the transmission hump in the floor pan. The air inlet actuator is located behind the glove box area at the interior firewall. The passenger temperature door actuator is located on the top of the hvac box assembly and generally to the right of the radio area.

So then that leads me to believe that I screwed up because I ordered 4 of those since on RA I found it by navigating down to blend door actuator and assumed they were all the same for all 4

Ok so I went back & verified my orders from RA. My first order was for 3 actuators but I only ended up replacing 2 which were the Driver’s temperature door actuator & the air inlet actuator. I then did a second order after talking to u around the 1st of Feb & ordered a Mode Actuator which I replaced & a blower motor which I also replaced. The only actuator I haven’t replaced yet is the passenger temp door actuator.

Do you still have the original actuators? Hopefully you do and we can try making some repairs to them so we can use them for testing.

I’ll have to check since that was 6 months ago

So doesn’t look like I have the old ones. Is it possible that I need to uninstall & reinstall the mode actuator? I remember having issues with it catching the white piece as well as appearing to move past the designated 3 line markers on the actuator when I was trouble shooting

Sparky

Well you haven’t mentioned any issues with mode control so my assumption would be that that actuator may be working okay.  I was thinking of using one of the original other actuators to reinstall in the driver’s temperature door actuator position. After we cleaned up a few things so it may work again. Since that is not an option I would suggest installing the remaining new actuator in place of the one that is currently at the driver’s temperature door.  In the process of doing so I would recommend gently wiggling the wires at that actuator within two minutes of cycling the ignition to see if it will respond to a cold command (temp set to 60) signal.  Also once the old actuator is removed and before installing the replacement manually turn the door shaft with you fingers to confirm it is not bound and the cold air will come out of the driver’s side vents.

Ok I will give that a shot thanks brother. Please keep this ticket open as I will get back to u either way

Sparky

No Problem.

Hey brother so i can’t find the old actuators so I’m gunna just buy a replacement for the mode actuator but I need ur help. Looking on rock auto for part #s then looking on Amazon I narrowed down to 2 that come up for the stock GM Part# 89018374 but one is ACDelco & the other is off brand. ACDelco one looks like it also comes with the half moon part but the other doesn’t price difference is $35-$38 & both can arrive on Saturday. Here are the links:

Which route should I go?

Sparky

The mode actuator is ACDelco part number 15-73952.

Ok that part came in just now so I’ll let u know if it fixes everything. So of the 4 then, the 2 red marked thru ones are already done plus obviously the green circled is next (mode) & the yellow circled is the last unreplaced actuator to be done

So unless there is a certain way to install the mode actuator, it’s in and plugged up. I used my ThinkDIAG to calibrate the HVAC but it’s still blowing hot as balls on driver’s side. I’m also noticing my ❄️ is blinking randomly now. I did get a few codes after calibration and those are attached. Any advice now?

So I couldn’t find B3779 DTC code in your repair info but searching thru alldatadiy it looks like it applies to Mode Actuator. I’m gunna attempt to reinstall the mode actuator & Driver side air temp actuators in the morning per the following:

If you have any other ideas let me know brother

Sparky

I have never used the ThinkDIAG so I have no idea of it’s capabilities or limits.

Can you see data stream for the HVAC system?

Can you control the actuators under special functions?

Can you read/see the software calibration versions?

It’s made by Launch & is an OBD2 Bluetooth dongle professional level Diag tool

Okay then the first thing you need to do is clear the codes and then try to move the actuators with your scan tool. Hopefully you can view the data stream while in that mode. You will need to keep an eye on the command signal, desired door position and actual door position data lines. Also take a look at temperature sensor data, mainly interior and exterior sensors. This data may be scattered around in various computers. The main ones should be the HVAC, engine and body computers.

If the doors will not move when commanded with the scan tool you will need to do the procedure outlined in the following article. KEEP In Mind that connectors and pin positions will not be the same and you should refer to your information in your AllData system.
