So I just installed a new mode door actuator and when I had the left temp control actuator off I turned the key on causing it to move from it’s original position. After I reinstalled everything the driver side blows heat when cooling is requested and cool air when heat is requested. The passenger side works as it should. Is there anyway I can get this back in sync with itself?

Calibration Procedure without a Scan Tool

    1. Make sure the slot in the actuator shaft is somewhere between the hash marks on the plastic.
    2. Turn OFF the ignition.
    3. Remove the battery positive voltage circuit fuse of the Instrument Panel Control Module. The wiring diagrams are vague as to which fuse that is. I would remove the DIM and IGN SW fuses from the rear fuse box to start the recalibration. If that does not work the next step would be to disconnect the battery.

Important:  The module memory will not clear if the battery positive voltage circuit fuse is installed in less than 60 seconds.

  1. Wait 60 seconds.
  2. Install the fuse.
  3. Turn the ignition on for one full minute and touch nothing.
  4. Turn the ignition off for at least ten seconds but no more than thirty seconds.
  5. Start the engine and check the system operation.

I just got time to try that out today. Neither removing the fuses or disconnecting the battery worked. The driver side is just being controlled completely backwards as what you request. Any other ideas or does it need a shop that can recalibrate the ac unit?

If the shaft slot is between the two hash marks  when you install it and the recalibration procedure does not work then the most likely thing is the actuator is faulty. On a long shot you can sometimes carefully take the actuator apart and clean the contact surfaces on the position sensor under the last gear to restore operation. You would also want to bend the brass wiper contacts  slightly to get more contact tension. Some actuators have a sealed sensor and this method cannot be done. No way to tell until it is opened up.

As soon as I read your last message I knew exactly what it was. When I had the actuator apart the first time I unplugged the motor on the board to test it. I connected it backwards when putting it together?‍♂️ and that’s why it was heating when asking for cooling. Thanks for the help. I really do appreciate it!
