On your Avalanche you will need to pull the HVAC BATT fuse number 39 in the underhood fuse box in order to start the recalibration procedure.

  1. Place the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Remove the HVAC BATT fuse for a minimum of 10 seconds.
  3. Install the HVAC BATT fuse.
  4. Start the vehicle.
  5. DO NOT touch anything. Hands in pockets.
  6. Wait at least 40 seconds for the HVAC control module to self-calibrate.
  7. Turn the ignition off for at least ten seconds but no more than thirty seconds.
  8. Restart the engine and check the HVAC system operation.

If the recalibration fails after a few attempts or needs to be performed again at a later date the actuator is likely failing and will need to be replaced.
