My blower on my truck stopped working. I replaced the blower, resistor and the 7 pin pigtail end that powers the resistor as it was bad. I started the truck and everything worked fine. I came back 20 minutes later to leave to go somewhere, put the cover back on the blower turned the key to leave and the truck will not start now. I have checked all of the fuses and everything seems to be working. The starter will not click when I turn the key, but all of the lights and heat/blower work. I do have power to the starter as I did get a spark off of it, going to try to arch it tonight to see if I can get it to turn on.

If anyone else has any suggestions please chime in. I dont believe in coincidences. Believe it has something to do with changing the blower. Going to cut the pigtail tonight and reinstall it. Would a bad connection in any of the 7 wires make it so the truck would not start?

Replacing the connector, blower resistor and blower motor should not cause a no start condition. I would not bother cutting the harness connector loose. If you feel you need to do something there then just unplug it and that will separate all of those circuits from each other.

The only thing that I can think of that may have happened is that there is an add on alarm system that may have been disturbed while working on the blower system.

Beyond that I would start a no crank (starter not working) problem by checking the Crank fuse in the underhood fuse box to make sure it is good and that there is power on it when the key is rotated to the crank position. Assuming it is I would move on to the starter relay and check to see if it clicks when the key is turned to the start position.

Depending on what you find in your testing I can help you along with this diagnosis.

Do you know what that crank fuse is labeled?

It is literally labeled as “Crank”.

HAHA funny. I found that last night before I saw your post. I think I have it figured out. Tested the starter and there was power to it but nothing happening when turning the ignition. Took starter down and get replacement today. It was just hard to believe that I was working on something totally unrelated as in the blower and then starter goes at the same time. Ill let you know if there is anything else. Hopefully just the starter. Positive post literally fell off when I put a tiny bit of pressure on it.
