Is this a GEM issue/any way to check if so or am I way off?

Hi Sparky,
I have a 2004 Ford Taurus SES and I had the radio replaced with a dash kit a while ago and all was fine, but I ended up getting something stuck in an opening on the kit (about the size of a single CD case). The opening is removable, so I popped the kit out to remove the piece, and as I was picking the dash piece back up to reinstall it, the plastic fastener that holds the kit inside the dash (where you insert the U shaped tools to pop the kit out) snapped and I decided to replace the kit with a new one instead of gluing it. For some reason I forgot that the rear defrost button on the kit had to be wired, so I decided to cut the old wiring without thinking to undo the battery, plugged the new kit in, and that I would wire the button in the morning before class as it was pretty late. I turned the car on and moved it so it wasn’t blocking the garage, but I can’t recall if everything was working properly or not. I do remember that the backlighting on the cluster (from when the headlights are turned on) and the backlighting on the new dash kit were on. The next morning I was in the car, and I noticed that my power windows, locks, wipers, sunroof, daytime running lights, map light, dome light, seatbelt chime, fuel gauge, temp gauge, xxx miles to E message, tachometer, speedometer, hazards, and air (blows but wouldn’t get cold) were not working. However things such as headlights, turn signals, power mirrors, and seat switch (move it backwards/forwards) were working. I checked just about all the fuses and they were fine, and after doing some research I’ve come to believe it may be the GEM but I’m not sure if that’s true or how I could test if it is the issue. I was brought here by your GEM test for a different vehicle, but I wasn’t sure if that would apply here as well since it was more than just the windows, or if I would still use the specific relay that you removed. I drive this vehicle daily to/from work and college, so its pretty rough with the midwest heat and inoperable windows/air.

Thanks for any help, I really do appreciate it.

It sounds like there is a blown fuse. I would strongly recommend checking fuses 32 and 33 in the smart junction box (interior fuse box).
