How do I fix a major malfunction in the new headlight assemblies in my Olds Intrigue?

Put in new GM Genuine headlight assemblies and a new hazard switch in my car and now the following problem has shown up: When engaging the turn signal to turn either right or left, the cornering lights in each of the headlights blink but the corresponding turn signal lights do not blink!!?? Same thing happens when using the hazard switch – cornering lights blink but nothing from the amber turn signal bulbs. Seems like the wiring in the headlights must be reversed to these respective bulbs. Is that possible? If not what would be causing this problem?

It would seem that the wiring is not correct. I will need to see some pictures of the wiring and connectors in the old and new headlight assemblies in order to help.

Unfortunately, I tossed the old headlights so nothing to compare with.

Do you know if one can pry out the wire harness receptacle in each headlight to look at where the individual wires in the headlight are attached in an effort to match the wire color scheme from the wire harness?

I would need some clear pictures of the connectors on one of your new headlight assemblies.

The text says there is a 2mb limit but I think it has been increased to at least 4 but maybe more.  Try and upload a picture here first.

Will have to wait for some help with the photos.

Additional thoughts – observations: When I turn the end of the headlight switch to running lights ( turn signal lights) and side marker lights, both of these bulbs in both headlights turn on as expected. However, when the turn signal is activated, the cornering light lights up and starts to blink and the turn signal bulb just gets brighter but does not blink; just the opposite of what should occur. And when you depress the hazard switch, the turn signal bulbs do not blink, only the cornering bulbs.

Basically what you need to do is swap the wires at terminals D and K at each light harness connector. I would prefer it be done in the headlamp assembly and that is the reason I would like to see picture. It may be easier to just swap them at the vehicle side connector for each light.

Swap orange terminal K  and light blue terminal D wires on left headlamp.

Swap brown terminal K  and dark blue terminal D wires on right headlamp.

Not having any experience is swapping harness wires, can you advise how to accomplish this swap? How do you extract these wires from the plug? Do they pry out by using a special tool. Thank you for guidance.

Figured it out !! I used a small paper clip; straightened it out and then poked it into the clip to release the pin and then switched out the wires as you directed. The final result? Worked like a charm – all lights work as designed!!!

Thank you so very much for solving this problem for me.

Assuming the connector body looks like the PT588 attachment, you will need to remove the gray terminal lock at the rear of the connector body using a small screwdriver or similar tool. It should not take a lot of pressure but in all cases of prying protect your eyes.

Then using a small wire (paper clip will do) compress the terminal locking lever that is shown in the attached terminal image by sliding the paper clip into the notch in the plastic body of the exposed terminal end. Pull the wire from the rear of the connector body. Using a small screwdriver lift the locking tab back out. Do this to both terminals and then re insert them into the correct slots. The slots are lettered on the connector body.  Reattach the gray terminal lock and check the system operation.
