2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer-How do I get gears aligned to install blend mode actuator?

I removed the old one. There’s limited room I see on website where u answered questions about a c only blowing on feet after battery change. There is limited room under dash so alignment tab is barely visible

If your Trailblazer has adjustable foot pedals the gas pedal assembly will need to be removed to gain room to work. If it has normal pedals the actuator can be replaced without removing the gas pedal. Assuming the ability to fit under the dash and enough flexibility to move around under there which can be easier said than done. That aside while the actuator is being slid into the correct mounting position the black peg on the vehicle gear lever has to be aligned with the notch in the white gear on the actuator. Also you need to check and make sure the replacement actuator is aligned as shown in the repair article.

Thanks for your response. I have seen the article u mentioned I ultimately reset gear lever on new actuator to reflect the old one but there is almost no room to see anything or maneuver under dash. It’s an awful job for sure. I have it installed but timing is not correct where before would only blow on feet it now blows our dash vents but also blows out defrost. It’s virtually impossible to see anything

A few things that will help are a small but strong flashlight, moving the driver’s seat all of the way back, removing the panels under the steering column area, lay on your back with your head near the gas pedal, if you don’t bend that far it helps to throw your legs up onto the door or door jamb. I find myself rolling the driver’s window down  and bringing my legs up to rest on the top of the door. If it has an emergency brake pedal depressing it will give more shoulder room.

Have someone move the a/c controls to the various vent positions and check to see if the black peg lines up with the notch in the white gear. If it does not then it is out of time and will need to be removed and adjusted. If it does the defroster actuator may be faulty or you may need to perform a recalibration.

Hope this helps.
