Bottom heater and defroster don’t work at the same time

The bottom heater and the defroster won’t work at the same time. I can have either bottom heat or defrost, not both.

I would start by trying to recalibrate the system.

 

Alternate Method (without Scan Tool)

Note:Do not adjust any controls on the HVAC control module while the HVAC control module is self-calibrating. If interrupted, improper HVAC performance will result.

  •     Ignition OFF.
  •     Remove the HVAC control module fuse behind the right kick panel for a minimum of 10 seconds.
  •     Install the HVAC control module fuse.
  •     Start the vehicle.
  •     Wait at least 40 seconds for the HVAC control module to self-calibrate.
  • Turn the ignition off for at least 10 seconds but no more than 30 seconds.
  • Restart the engine and check HVAC operation.
